Most people start out the year with a resolution to improve their health. It might be to lose weight, eat healthier or just make exercising a priority. Whatever your health goals may be, set yourself up to WIN. And a winning combination to your health is food, workouts and community. All of these things can be found in the FASTer Way to Fat Loss program. This program is so amazing that I want to share my personal experience with each of you. I’ll share what intrigued me about the program, why I almost passed it up, what sold me and my results.
WHAT IS A FASTer WAY TO FAT LOSS PROGRAM?
This is a six week program that involves four major components:
Carb Cycling — Yes, you can and should eat carbs! This involves a couple low carb days combined with appropriate workouts so you get incredible results.
Intermittent Fasting — Just as the name says, fasting is a part of this diet. Most clients fast 16 hours a day (much of that time is while sleeping) and eat during an eight hour window.
Tracking Macros — Macros are what make up your diet, protein, carbs and fat. You need to journal these to see what you are eating and how much.
Workouts — The plan gives you a daily workout with an option of a gym workout, home workout or a beginner workout so that it reaches all levels.
My jeans are shrinking!
I’ve always enjoyed exercise, however, as I’ve gotten older the numbers on the scale started creeping up on me. Even more traumatizing was the added pounds that were threatening to squeeze me out of my most loved jeans. This had me a bit concerned. I knew I could never stick to a strict diet and I already had my own exercise routine. I had no more time in my day to add more exercise. What were my options?
My introduction to the FWTFL plan
After expressing some displeasure about my favorite jeans shrinking, one of my besties told me she had the same problem despite the boot camps and diets until she discovered the FWTFL. She was now eating more, exercising less and building lean muscle. Plus she loved it! I wanted to hear more, so she gave me the goods and then passed on a link that gave me even more valuable information.
INITIAL CONCERNS ABOUT THE PLAN
Objection — A lot of the workouts involved weights. I had abandoned those things years ago and I hadn’t set foot in a gym in years either. The thought of that was quite intimidating. What if I didn’t know how to use the weights?
Solution —This plan provides a portal where members can click on any exercise they don’t know how to do and BOOM your very own personal gym genie appears showing you how it’s done.
Objection — My next concern was the fact that I like to eat what I want. Sound familiar? This includes carbs. I was certain this was going to be the deal breaker. I knew I couldn’t manage to live without carbs as my family can’t handle a hangry mama.
Solution — Upon further reading, I realized it wasn’t that I couldn’t have carbs but that I needed to plan when to eat them. It was all a strategy that made sense.
Objection —The other issue was the ‘F’ word. I mean FASTING! The plan involves eating within an eight hour window and fasting for 16 hours. Occasionally the plan suggest you do a 24-hour water fast or a juice fast. I could skip breakfast and cut out the snacking, but couldn’t I just pass on the fast? I don’t want to be hangry.
Solution — Well, yes you can pass but I wanted to give the program a real chance and experience it all regardless of how I felt about it. After all, I wasn’t the expert. I sucked it up and did a 24-hour fast and I did a juice cleanse. And no, I didn’t like it, especially the first go round. The second time was easier. Plus, after you hear all the benefits of fasting (not weight loss) you will see, it is well worth the struggle.
Tracking your Macros
Objection — What the heck was a macro? I don’t know what that is and I don’t like to keep track of any type of food logs. Can’t I pass on this one?
Solution —Yes, but you miss out on all the education you get from it. I learned so much from keeping track of my food. This was hard for me and I am sometimes a slacker but had I not done it at first, I would have missed out on all I learned. I know when I’m getting off track and I just get back on.
Objection — I was almost sold but then I thought about the accountability. Could I do this by myself?
Solution — YES! They set you up in a Facebook group that you check in with daily. Women share their struggles and more importantly, their wins. You need it during the fasts or when you miss a workout and feel like a loser (you’re not). The women are amazing. And no negative nellies are allowed. Community at its best!
SOLD! I signed up AND I followed the rules for the first six weeks. At the end of the program, I took my measurements and found I had lost one full inch in my thighs and my butt. My jeans were fitting better because I lost the weight I wanted. Plus I felt GREAT! Since then, I’ve graduated to the VIP program (more on that later) and have continued to make great progress. The bonus is I’m able to incorporate this plan with my exercise of choice (yoga and barre).
The next session starts January 15, so act fast. They have limited spots per session so if there is room now, I would encourage you to take the plunge. If it is full, there will another opening in February.
