If my mornings are running smoothly, I get the kids off to school and am able to workout, head home for a shower and then get out of my workout clothes and into something more stylish and suitable for the day. Now that’s what I call accomplishment! All to often, I don’t make it out of my workout clothes. I end up running around town tying up loose ends before I pick up kids from school. Sound familiar? Well, I’ve got some double duty workout wear that can do it all. Plus you’ll look stylish and on trend even if you don’t work out.
If you are like me, you don’t like to look like you just left the studio or gym. With the athleisure trend being hot this season, you’ll look fab in all these pieces regardless of your day’s agenda. Some items are just great activewear, but there are a few favorites that are perfect for post-workout wear. In fact, you just might be able to skip that shower and run errands without looking like you need a shower.
Be sure to read all the way to the end, where I tell you the best things to pack in your workout bag, so that you can be totally prepared for your workout to work transition.
I was recently introduced to SQN-Sport, and being a yoga and barre instructor as well as a lover of all things fashion, I’m always up for checking out new styles and brands. You are going to be so happy that I am sharing these fun finds with you! SQN Sport has locations in SunValley, ID and in Malibu, CA. All activewear is made in the USA! Wohooo! I love supporting American made companies. SQN Sport focuses on minimalist design and American-made activewear.
The pieces I love the most are what I call hybrid styles that are able to take you from activity to activity seamlessly throughout your day. They are quite luxurious and are perfect for post-workout wear especially when you are short on time. As I’ve mentioned before, hybrid pieces are hard to come by and are awesome because you can do a total fake out after a workout when you bust one of these pieces out. They include ponchos and popovers that look as good with jeans and pants as they do with leggings. They’ve also got a great skinny harem pant that feels like heaven and is perfect for a gentle yoga class or just lounging around the house.
These camo pants are reserved for my hard workouts. The side pockets keep my phone and keys secure while I work out and the pants have some compression that leaves you with a hugged sensation. The bamboo shirt is super soft and is great on a chilly morning. It’s also good with jeans.
This popover has got you covered. It’s got an asymmetrical hemline which is on trend this season and is long enough to cover your bum. This is perfect for post workout because it’s sheer and goes on over your tank. If you like to feel more covered up and conservative when heading to a meeting or lunch after your workout, this popover is the way to go. I’ve paired it with the seamless black legging which is a basic everyone should own.
This poncho is one of SQN Sports best sellers and such a versatile piece. You can throw this on over your workout wear and go anywhere. This beauty is going to steal the show and it doesn’t matter what you have on underneath. It’s a classy piece that will dress anything up. Put on some cool tennis shoes, which are HOT this season and run those errands or have a nice lunch out with a friend. Check out a previous post on spring trends to find some great sneakers.
I know I’m giving away my age, but this pant brought me back to the days of MC Hammer. Before you panic, it’s a little more subdued and its super cute. These comfy pants have an elastic waist and are cuffed at the ankles. Put these babies on and it will make you want to dance to “U Can’t Touch This”! Bahaaaa! Seriously, I lounge in mine but you could totally rock these at a gentle yoga or restorative class. I sleep in them too!
I’ve got many workout bags, but I always go back to my MZ Wallace Metro bag. It’s organized with three removable pockets that attach and detach easily from the inside. Best of all, it’s waterproof which means no messes to clean up even if your hair mousse explodes in the bag. And they have some fun designs perfect for spring and summer. Plus, this bag is awesome for the beach as it is easy to get sand out of it and plenty of room for make-up, hair accessories, and wet bathing suits. It’s definitely a double-duty find.
What to Pack In Your Workout Bag
- Deodorant Wipes
- Lipstick (Don’t underestimate the power of a great tube of lipstick)
- Hair Tie
Don’t let that morning meeting keep you from your workout. Add a few double-duty pieces to your wardrobe and you can head straight to your meeting after your workout without too much effort. Grab those deodorant wipes and get off the grit and grime. Use your hair tie to put your hair up in a high ponytail or bun. Swipe on some lipstick and choose a poncho or popover to put on before you head out. Make sure you pack your workout bag with the essentials and although it’s not always ideal, you can skip the shower and still rock a trendy look.
